OBJECTIVE:
To work towards building a ‘Farmer Suicide-Free’ Vidarbha.
THE EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
- Felicitated Ms. Ashatai Nikhade, a woman farmer who courageously took up male oriented jobs and delivered outstanding results.
- Twenty spray machines with safety kits were distributed to the selected 20 farmers from 5 villages in Akola taluka. Five soil testing equipment’s were given to each of the five villages and 50 head-torches were distributed to the most underprivileged farmers.
- The renowned guest present at the GRAND MARATHA FOUNDATION enlightened the farmers about sustainable farming methods and tactics to generate better wealth for themselves.
- Special guests, the head of the departments from PKV demonstrated appropriate spraying techniques and trained the young farmers to use soil testing equipment.
- The guest present were: Chief Guest Dr. Vilas Kharchee, Director PKV, Dr. Nimade, PKV- Department of Pesticide, Dr. Konde, PKV, Head of Department, Soil testing, Professor Sanjay Khadse, Deputy Collector, Akola Taluka, Narendra Sastri, Head of Agriculture Department, Akola. Dr. Gajanan Nare, Founder Chairman, Prabhat Kids School, Dr. Nivrutti Patil, Scientist, KVK and Sarpanch & Upa-Sarpanch of the 5 villages.
- This being the 1st model, we would later replicate it across Vidarbha in a years’ time.
