The Crisis We Cannot Ignore

Over 5,000 farmers have died by suicide in Maharashtra's Marathwada region in just five years. In 2025 alone, 1,129 lives were lost, the highest number so far.

Repeated droughts, erratic rainfall, floods, rising input costs, crop failures, and mounting debt have pushed farming families to the edge, especially during recurring climate disasters between May and October.

These numbers reveal a deep agrarian crisis. Marathwada urgently needs sustainable solutions, better irrigation, timely compensation, debt relief, and real climate resilience, before more lives are lost.
